These are some recent examples of our work in economic development.

Business Council of Fairfield County - Strategic Planning - HWF assisted a Steering Committee of educational, health care industry, and workforce development leaders in the creation of a plan to strengthen the competitiveness of the health care industry cluster in Southwest Connecticut.

City of New Haven - Strategic Planning, Fund Development & Special Reports - HWF facilitated a citywide planning process that resulted in a successful application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the designation of six New Haven neighborhoods as a federal Empowerment Zone. The application resulted in a $100 million federal grant commitment and $130 million in tax-exempt debt capacity for the City of New Haven.

City of Rock Hill, South Carolina - Community Development Finance - HWF is assisting the City to structure tax increment financing for several large brown field redevelopment projects. One project will redevelop 1,000 acres that belonged to a former chemical processing plant into a mixed-use community with commercial, industrial and residential uses. Public financing for this project is expected to reach $20 million.
