Early Care and Education

These are some recent examples of our work in early care and education.

United Way of Eastern Fairfield County - Strategic Planning & Special Reports - HWF conducted an early care environmental assessment of the United Way's six-town service area that incorporated demographic and service-related information and perspectives of opinion leaders and consumers. The assessment findings provided the basis upon which the United Way supported early care goals throughout its service area and informed a more intensive community-wide planning process that resulted in the development of Bridgeport's Early Childhood Blueprint.

Community Foundation for Greater New Haven - Strategic Planning & Fund Development - HWF assisted the Foundation in engaging stakeholders and developing a strategic investment framework ("First Years First") to support young children and their families. HWF also provided assistance in securing federal and philanthropic grants to support the initiative.

Connecticut Department of Education - Special Report - 1,400 adults from 39 towns across Connecticut participated in 25 community forums to discuss the Department of Education's Universal Pre-Kindergarten concept. HWF analyzed the information and prepared a report titled, "Moving Universal Pre-Kindergarten from Concept to Reality: Recommendations for Creating a High-Quality Early Education System that Meets the Needs of Families".
